Daly Cherry-Evans – Sea Eagles
Daly Cherry-Evans, now is the time.
Johnathan Thurston has gone down injured, Anthony Milford is already unavailable and so the talk has begun about Kevin Walters’ choice to be Queensland No 6 for the State of Origin decider in a little under three weeks.
Among those mentioned by Walters were Queensland utility Michael Morgan, Melbourne’s Cameron Munster, who doubled as Queensland’s 18th man, and Parramatta’s Corey Norman.
Yet no mention of Cherry-Evans, who just a few years back was everybody’s tip as the heir apparent for Thurston.
Cherry-Evans heads to Shark Park on Sunday for the battle of beaches.
There could be no better opportunity for Cherry-Evans to show Walters he is ready for the step back into Origin than a dominant display against one of the grittiest, toughest defensive sides in the NRL.
