2006: First interstate Grand Final

For the first time ever in rugby league, two interstate teams would face off in the Premiership decider. Favourites and first placed Melbourne Storm would take on third-placed Brisbane Broncos in a clash seeing both teams defend their perfect grand final records. Brisbane would take the historic clash 15 points to 8 in front of a crowd of 79,609 people. The game also saw about 100,000 more people watch the game on television in Melbourne than in Sydney.
