Vale – Tom Cocking

Men of League Foundation member #14533

Rugby League has lost a true gentleman with the passing of staunch Rabbitoh Tom Cocking. Tom played his junior football with Redfern United and Waterloo Waratahs.

He was graded with South Sydney in 1957, making his first-grade debut in 1959. Under the expert coaching of Clem Kennedy Tom captained the Kingsford team winning the premiership in their first year of the Inter-District Competition.

A Rabbitoh all his life he served the club in many capacities as a Deputy Selector. Team Manager, Club Supervisor and was a member of the board of Directors.

Tom was recognized for his dedication being elected as a Life Member in 1983. He was also well known as the Barrow man with his fruit and Vege barrow in Barrack St Sydney for many years. A highly respected gentleman Tom has made many friends with his friendly nature and he will be sadly missed by all.
