Vale Jimmy Lang

Jimmy was born at Wellington and resided in the Stuart Town area in his early life. He moved to Wollongong in his teens where he played under 18s and Reserve Grade for Wollongong. 
 
He later worked for Sorby’s, a large steel manufacturer and supplier in Wollongong and rose through the ranks to be appointed Manager of their new Dubbo outlet in 1968.
 
Jim immediately joined and became involved with Dubbo Macquarie Rugby League Club and was a delegate to Group 11 from then to 1984. 
 
He was Secretary of Group 11 from 1980 for 7 years and was made a Life Member in 1984. 
 
He was also a member of the Country Rugby League Board for 3 years working with John O’Toole, David Barnhill and others. 

Jim was manager of the Country Origin Team at the SCG in 1984.
 
He was a member of the Western Division Board for 7 years and Secretary for 6 years and was eventually made Life Member of Western Division Rugby League.
 
He was Foundation member of the Dubbo Rugby League Challenge group whose purpose was to arrange games of ARL & NRL Clubs in Dubbo so as to showcase and promote rugby league in the country. These games were extremely well promoted and attended at Apex Oval, Dubbo and continue today.
 
Jim was Foundation Patron and member of Men of League Western Region Committee up until his passing.
 
At the time of his passing, Jim had been a continuous director of the huge Dubbo RSL Club Resort for 32 years. He was made a Life Member of the Dubbo RSL Club Resort.

He was also Director of Dubbo RSL Orana Gardens Aged Care Facility for 15 years holding the position as Chairman for five of those.
 
In addition to the above he currently sponsored a junior soccer team.  
 
He was an amazing intelligent, gentle and generous man who gave of his time and knowledge so freely to help others.
 
Jim was 80 years of age at the time of his passing and is survived by his son Mark, daughter Jodie and beautiful granddaughter Zoe, aged 8 weeks.
 
His funeral service will be held at 11:00am at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, Brisbane Street, Dubbo on Friday 21st October, 2016.
