Mick Sparkes

On Friday 13th March 2015 Sydney Metro Welfare Officers Warren Thompson and Alan Webb visited Mick Sparkes, from Gunnedah at St. Vincents Hospital Darlinghurst.

Mick had surgery to replace the aortic and mitral valves and three by-passes. Mick was in intensive care unit at the hospital on our visit, and owing to his treatment we were unable to see him on that day.

We spoke to his wife and daughter, at the hospital and they expressed their thanks to the Men of League foundation for taking the time to visit their father and husband. We gave them a Men of League polo shirt and cap for Mick.

It was our intention to re-visit on Thursday 19th March and on enquiring from Micks’ daughter Alicia we were informed that he had been discharged from hospital on Tuesday 17th March and was now recovering at her home in Dubbo prior to returning to Gunnedah.
