Men of League Foundation honours Manly Warringah Junior Rugby League Clubs’ best

In Australia’s rugby league circles, it is recognised and acknowledged that Junior League Clubs are the birthplace and nursery of our players at all levels of our wonderful game. We all know that behind the running of all junior league clubs, there is a band of committed loyal people fulfilling all functions from coaching to the marking out of the playing fields and too often these fine people do not receive the recognition they justly deserve.

The Northern Sydney Men of League Committee is very mindful of this oversight and for the last four years, has honoured the Manly Warringah District Junior Rugby League Clubs nominated Best Club Persons (same actions completed with North Sydney District Junior Rugby League Clubs). The Foundation presented specially designed Men of League plaques to each person, including a special Men of League Award.

On 21 October 2016, Northern Sydney Committee Members Norm Pounder and wife Diane, Trevor Bailey and wife Vickie, Geoff Squires and wife Jill, Neil Whittaker and Ken Vessey were guests of the Manly Warringah District Junior League Executive at their annual presentation night.

Our plaque presentations were part of the evening and we were delighted to have ex Sea Eagles legends Geoff Toovey and Jamie Lyon to present our 13 plaques in front of an audience of 120 Club persons.

The night was a huge success and we thank again Mike Covey and Matt Brown, Junior League Executives, for the hospitality and continued support throughout 2016.
