2014: Rabbitohs v Bulldogs – Broken, Not Beaten

Best exemplified by the courageous effort of Rabbitohs forward Sam Burgess, who suffered a broken cheekbone in the game’s opening tackle, the South Sydney Rabbitohs ended a 43-year premiership drought with a convincing 30-6 win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

The first-half of the match yielded little on the scoreboard, only one try and a penalty goal giving Souths a 6-0 lead. Canterbury equalised just ten minutes into the second half, but the might of the Red and Green overwhelmed a struggling Bulldogs outfit. Greg Inglis scored the final try in the final minute of the game and Burgess remained on the field the entire 80 minutes.
