1981: Eels v Jets – The Witch is Dead


Playing in their first grand final in 26 years, the Jets were out to prove they were back on a stage where they belonged. When skipper Tommy Raudonikis bundled over to score early in the second-half and make the scoreboard read 10-7, the Jets looked like they were on the way to an unlikely victory.

However, the star-studded Parramatta backline of Sterling, Kenny, Grothe, Cronin and Ella turned it on when it mattered most, leading the Blue and Golds to a 20-11 victory and securing the club’s first ever premiership in the process.

Ten of the Greatest Grand Finals in rugby league history have been selected by an elite panel for the 2018 Annual Gala Dinner to be held at The Westin Sydney on Wednesday 15 August.
