Teammates for a year, friends for a lifetime – A visit for Alan Scott

Former first grade player Alan Scott was very pleased to catch up with his South Sydney Premiership winning second row partner Bob McCarthy and Warren Thompson when they recently visited him in hospital.

A product of the Alexandria Rovers, Alan played first grade with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 1960-61. He signed with Manly and played seasons 1962-64, returning to the ‘Bunnies’ in 1965. This move would prove to be a successful one, as Alan tasted Premiership success as part of the 1967 Souths premiership team that defeated Canterbury 12-10 at the SCG.

During the visit, Bob called the captain of that team and put him on the phone to chat with Alan. The expression on his face was priceless when he heard John Sattler’s voice. The old mates reminisced about the great days with the Rabbits.

Alan was presented with a Men of League Foundation polo shirt and cap, as well as a few Men of League magazines to catch up on the recent news!

Bob and Warren were more than happy to pay their respects to their old mate, a tough man on the paddock who is still showing his fighting spirit.
