Vale Neil Bertoli

Neil, aged 75 years old, sadly passed away peacefully on 24 October 2016. As a youngster, he became involved in various sports and developed into a rugged front rower in rugby league, an accomplished cricketer, a great golfer (became a Gold Member at Long Reef Golf Club) and had a keen eye for horse racing. He played his junior rugby league days in the Manly Warringah District with Manly Christian Brothers Rugby League Club, where he was bestowed with Life Membership.

He was destined to be graded by the Manly Warringah District Rugby League Football Club, where he played first grade in 1962 and issued with Club First Grade Player Number 139. He also played many games in reserve grade for the Club before transferring to the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club, where he had a successful playing career. 

Upon retiring, he successfully coached junior rugby league teams in the Manly Warringah Junior Rugby League competitions and the St. Paul’s Catholic College Manly Open team.

Away from sporting activities, Neil had a highly successful career as a respected Accountant in Manly, where he advised the varied local members of commerce. He was also an active ex-President and Life Member of the Manly Civic Club.

Neil will be dearly missed by his loving wife Jan, family members Darren and Tash, Grant and Fiona, Adam and Jo, grandchildren Sierra, Bonnie, Andrew, Bianca, Izzy , Eva, Jorja and Lexie, dear brother John (dec.) and Robyn and the multitude of people that Neil was associated with or met during his illustrious lifetime.

A Requiem Mass, before a full congregation, was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manly on 28 October 2016.
