Queensland Wellbeing Update – Petero Civonceva, Bill & Thelma Pollard and Gavin McLaughlin

Our Queensland Men of League Foundation Wellbeing Officers have been busy checking in with wellbeing recipients from around the state.

Sunshine Coast resident John Fooks had a surprise visit recently from Petero Civoniceva (pictured). Petero had heard that John was unwell and thought he would visit him while he was working on the Sunshine Coast. John, whose health hasn’t been too good recently, was tickled pink to be visited by the ex-Brisbane, Queensland and Australian legend.

Toowoomba Region Wellbeing Officer Andrew O’Brien recently visited Bill and Thelma Pollard. Bill and Thelma have been visited by Andrew for many years and they look forward to seeing Andrew in his travels. Bill has been unwell and Andrew has been a tower of support to not only Bill but his wife Thelma.

Ex-South Sydney, Newtown and Brisbane Brothers player Gavin McLaughlin was recently visited by Sunshine Coast Wellbeing Officer John Bourke after a knee operation. John and Gavin are old friends from their Brothers days and Gavin enjoyed catching up with John during his hospital stay. We wish Gavin all the best during his recovery.

Have you ever thought about being a volunteer for the Men of League Foundation? We are always on the lookout for people with some spare time each week to go and visit those who are doing it a bit tough. One of those volunteers who does give up their time is our Brisbane Committee’s Vance Rennie. Vance has been a volunteer Wellbeing Officer for a while now and enjoys catching up and visiting his old mates. He regularly visits former Brisbane Committee President Ron Atkins and takes him to functions and outings. If you think you may be interested in being a Volunteer Wellbeing Officer, please give Mark Bunting, our Queensland Wellbeing and Education Officer, a call on 07 3367 6080.
