Eric and Stanley look back at the good old days of rugby league

Friendship is the cornerstone of the Men of League Foundation. Sharing stories with your mates of the days when you played football as a young bloke and remembering the good old days. Recently, our Queensland Wellbeing & Education Officer, Mark Bunting, paid a visit to Eric Dean and Stanley Kroppe in Brassall, Ipswich.

Eric and Stanley from the Brassall aged care facility come together each day to chat about the glory days of rugby league. Eric Dean is one of those men who likes to share his stories.

Eric Dean started playing football at the age of 8 for Surat State School. He played 5/8th for his Surat team and also represented the district.

He remembers playing against Arthur Beetson when Arthur was playing for Roma. All he remembers is that Arthur sent them flying as he just ran through Eric’s team.

We look forward to seeing Eric and Stanley again next time the our volunteers visit and hearing those great stories of bygone eras.
