Update on Alan Scott

Recently, we we published a story about Alan Scott spending some time in hospital.

Alan has since been released and has returned to the comfort of his home, so John Peard and John Harris paid a visit to the former South Sydney and Manly forward.

He was in excellent form and shared many reminiscences with John Peard as they had played in the same era.

Alan played his junior football with Alexandria Rovers before being graded with Souths in 1959. He then moved to then mortal enemy Manly for three seasons (1962-1964) before returning to Souths (1965-1969). Alan played in the star-studded Souths premiership winning team in 1967.

As was the norm at that time, Alan worked full-time on the wharves and for the Sydney City Council.

Alan and his wife Joy have lived in Peakhurst for almost 50 years and are enjoying their retirement, especially watching their grandchildren playing rugby league and netball.

Alan and Bomber traded stories (many true and some doubtful) about rugby league games and personalities from the 60’s era.

We spent a very enjoyable time with Alan and Joy. Joy remarked that Alan really enjoys having visitors and particularly conversations about good old times and thanked us for our visit.
