A wellbeing catch up for Colin Beath

Colin Beath has been going through a difficult time with health issues over the past few years.
The Men of League Foundation visit Colin regularly and it was good to catch up with our friend again recently.

Originally from Goolagong in New South Wales, Colin played with Eugowra and was a member of the 1968 Premiership Reserve grade team. After coming to Sydney in 1970, Colin was working as a mechanic in Mascot when a gentleman brought his cab in for repairs. Chatting with Colin, the cab driver learnt that Colin was a rugby league player with a name familiar to the game and that his brother Barry was a dynamic second row forward with St George -the man was the coach of South Sydney and was none other than Clive Churchill!

Soon after that meeting Colin was packing down with the strong Rabbitohs reserve grade team under the coaching of former Souths player Fred Nelson. Colin was a tough tackling back rower who was a valuable member of the team.

Following his playing days, he was the President of De La Salle Junior Rugby League Club in the Cronulla-Sutherland competition. Warren Thompson and Colin Downing from Men of League Foundation’s Sydney Metro Committee will keep in touch with Colin and look forward to visiting again in the near future.
