Welfare visit to Doug Passlow – former Newtown Blue-Bag

On Thursday, 31st March 2016 John Peard, Warren Thompson and Alan Webb visited Doug, at Pacific Heights Nursing Home, Princes Highway Sylvania.

We were informed Doug played his junior football with Camperdown Dragons before entering the grade ranks with Newtown where he played eight first grade games as a winger.

Doug also coached Sydney University reserve grade in the 2nd Division competition.

At 84 years of age, Doug who suffers from short term memory loss and impaired mobility, was residing at Percy Miles Villa (Aged Care Facility) at Kirrawee but after having a fall he required further assistance and care and is now at Pacific Heights Nursing Home Sylvania.

Doug and the staff were entertained by John Peard and the staff asked John to attend their end of season rugby league tipping competition award presentation.
Doug has two children, a daughter Susan who resides at Dee Why and son Warren who resides nearby at Sylvania.

He was presented with a Men of League polo shirt and cap along with a Newtown Jets stubby holder.

We have been contacted by Doug’s son Warren who expressed his gratitude to Men of League for taking the time to visit his dad.

Alan Webb – Welfare officer, Sydney Metro & Southern Sydney.
