A warm visit to a highly regarded man, John McKeough

Warren Thompson from our Sydney Metro committee recently visited John McKeough in the Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick. John, who hails from Port Macquarie, is recovering from surgery.

His wife Julie and son Craig were at the hospital when Warren arrived. Originally from Taree on the NSW north coast, John was Captain/Coach of Wingham and Foster – Tuncurry, as well as playing for Taree United. A lock or centre, John is highly regarded among his peers both as a person and a former player.

Before his retirement, John was the Chief Executive Officer of the Tweed Heads Seagulls Club. He is part of a true rugby league family, as Craig McKeough played for Canterbury and the Canberra Raiders whilst he also represented NSW Country and NSW Residents. Craig then played in England with Hull KR.

Despite having a way to go in his recovery, John was thinking of others and asked Warren to follow up as to the well-being of a mate he is concerned about, signifying why it’s so easy to see why he is a highly respected member of the community.

John was presented with a polo shirt, cap and issues of Men of League magazines to catch up on whilst he is recovering.
