Vale Stephen Maxwell

Former Dapto and Sydney Roosters player, Stephen Maxwell, passed away on Friday 3 April, aged 62. Stephen grew up in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and played some grade football with the Roosters in the early 1970s. A clever five eighth and centre, he joined the Dapto club in 1975, where he was a member of three successive Illawarra first grade Premiership winning teams. Under coach Allan Fitzgibbon, Dapto won the Illawarra title in 1975, 1976 and 1977.
 

After leaving Dapto, Stephen played at Coffs Harbour and then Nambucca Heads. Later in life he and his wife, Kerry, moved to Melbourne, where he passed away.

Stephen is survived by Kerry and his three children, Clinton, Barbara and Ashley.

The funeral service will be held at 10am this Friday morning, 10 April, at WD Rose, 221 Charman Road, Cheltenham, Melbourne.
