Reg Hatton: 28 January 1942 – 21 July 2015
 
Speedy Newtown and Penrith winger, Reg Hatton passed away early this morning (21 July) aged 73.

 A talented and successful professional runner, Reg played six seasons with Newtown and two for the Penrith Panthers.
 
He came into grade with Newtown in 1962 and made his first grade debut the following year. During his time with the Bluebags, he played 39 first grade matches and scored 12 tries.
 
He moved out west to Penrith in 1970 and in his two seasons, played 35 top grade matches, collecting 16 tries.
 
During his first grade career, Reg played with such highly rated men as Brian “Chicka” Moore, Bob Keyes, Brian Graham, Allan Maddalena, Laurie Fagan, Bob Carnegie, Bob Landers, Grahame Moran, Mal McMartin and Paul Gibson (former member of NSW Parliament).
 
Reg never forgot his last first grade try. It was at Penrith Park on 25 July 1971 in the 26-9 win against his old club, Newtown.

Reg is survived by his partner Wendy, his children Russell and Julie-Anne, his four grandchildren Stirling, Larna, Nathan and Tyler-Jay, plus his two great grandchildren Amara and Nate.

Reg’s funeral service will be held at 11.30am on Tuesday 28 July in the South Chapel of the Eastern Suburbs Crematorium, 12 Military Road, Matraville.
