Vale Norm Jarvis

14 April 1927 – 9 November 2012

The Corrimal Rugby League club lost a valued member last Friday (9 November), with the passing of Norm Jarvis at age 85. As a player, Norm was the youngest member of Corrimal’s 1948 team, who won the club’s first ever Illawarra first grade Premiership.

Norm played in every match that season, scoring a long range solo try in the 11-4 semi final win over Wollongong on 12 September. The team won the Grand Final 22-7 against Port Kembla on 26 September 1948 at Wollongong Showground.

After retiring, Norm became a committee member for several years and from 1961 until 1974, he was the Corrimal treasurer. A few years after this, he was rewarded for his hard work with Life Membership of the club.
Norm’s funeral will be held this Friday, 16 November, at Parsons Funeral Chapel, 34 Belmore Street, Wollongong at 2pm
