Ken Charlton

Men of League are sadden by the news of the death of Ken Charlton, aged 89. Ken played ten season (1942-52) for the Canterbury club as a prop/second rower and in his final three season he captained the side.

“The brother of Nev Charlton, Ken Charlton served with the RAAF in England during the war before commencing a long career with the Canterbury club as both a player and administrator. Following his retirement as a player in 1959, Ken ‘ The Tank’ Charlton was the foundation secretary of Canterbury Leagues Club and was later a vice-president of the NSWRL in 1961”

Ken is survived by wife Pauline and sons Tony, Phillip and Ross.

Funeral will be held on Friday 23rd November, 2012 at South Chapel Crematorium at Rookwood Cemetary at 10.30am.  Wake afterwards at Canterbury Leagues Club in Terrace Room.
