Vale Jon Mannah

13 September 1989 – 17 January 2013

Jon Mannah

The Australian sporting community lost a great man when Jon Mannah, passed away at only 23 years of age. The young Rugby League player has been fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for the past few years, since being diagnosed with it in 2009. He showed immense courage in this time and fought his way back to play 12 matches for Cronulla in 2011 before returning to Parramatta to play with his older brother, Tim.

The Guildford junior played some early season games last year with feeder club Wentworthville, coming back through the Eels grades. Unfortunately this wasn’t to be and the young forward had a relapse last March.

Altogether he played 24 games in his three seasons with Cronulla. A natural leader, Jon was vice captain of the Christian Community School in 2007, in his last year of High School.  His older brother, Tim  is a team leader at Parramatta and has played State of Origin football.

The Men of League extends its deepest sympathies to Tim and his family, plus all the many friends Jon made during his brief but fruitful life.
