Vale Bernard “Barney” McEvoy

Vale Bernard “Barney” McEvoy

16 MARCH 1933 – 11 JUNE 2016

Barney sadly passed away on the 11 June 2016 aged 83 years old and the broad community is saddened by his passing.

He gained recognition from the rugby league fraternity when he played as a rugged, uncompromising second rower with the famous North Sydney Rugby League Football Club from 1956-59 playing 51 matches in 1st grade before he was persuaded to transfer to the strong Manly Warringah Rugby League Football Club where he was the 129th player to play 1st grade for the Club.

From 1960-63 he played 59 matches in 1st grade and his efforts were rewarded when selected for representative honours in 1960 when he played in the City 1st grade team and 2 matches for New South Wales.

Barney was known and respected by countless people in the local community.

Our deepest condolences are extended to his loving wife Barbara and family Debra, Greg, Rodney, Janine, Craig, Mandy and his adoring grandchildren.

A committal service will be held at Macquarie Park Crematorium, Magnolia Chapel, Cnr Delhi and Plassey Roads, North Ryde on Friday 24 June 2016 at 2pm.
