Tuggerah Lakes Commitee update and a visit to Fred Grogan
A very successful Kick-Off Club was held at Lake Munmorah Bowling Club on June 16th, with sixty people attending. It was great to see many new faces including some women and many of the Northern Lakes players, coaches and officials.
A special guest was the new Men of League Foundation CEO, Frank Barrett, who outlined his, and the Foundation’s plans for the future. Thanks to Neville Glover for organising the night.
There was a sad touch to the night with the sudden passing of our secretary, Terry Wand, the previous day. Terry would have wanted the night to go ahead, as it did, and would have been impressed with the large turn out and friendship.
Our wellbeing team has been busy making home and hospital visits, the latest being to former Wyong player, Fred Grogan, who became a very popular clubman during his time with the Roos in the 60’s. Fred was a Kiwi, who introduced the Wyong players to the hangi and organised many other social activities.
Our final Kick-Off Club is scheduled for Friday September 29th at Norah Head Sports Club. It will have a Grand Final theme with trivia questions, raffles and lucky door prizes.
