‘Rugby League Disrupted! The untold stories of the Super League war’ set to light up Queensland Annual Lunch, presented by Newstead Brewing Co.

The Men of League Foundation’s Queensland Annual Lunch presented by Newstead Brewing Co. is sure to provide members and friends of the rugby league community an entertaining afternoon on Friday 7 September at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds.

The Annual Lunch has been a staple on the Foundation’s social calendar since its inception in 2005 and this year’s theme, Rugby League Disrupted! The untold stories of the Super League war will shed light on one of the most contentious eras in Australian rugby league history.

The man who was dubbed ‘The face of the Super League’ John Ribot and former players Chris Johns, Benny Elias and Trevor Gillmeister will all be on deck to offer their personal insights on what the Super League meant for them and their respective careers.

Men of League Foundation Queensland Manager David Shillington said that last year’s Annual Lunch raised over $118k and he hopes that this year’s edition will provide a similar result.

“The Annual Lunch is the Queensland office’s premiere fundraising event of the year and we are excited to present such an enthralling theme with high profile guests.

“Along with hearing from our guest speakers, the Annual Lunch will have a live auction item, raffle and comedian as part of the entertainment plus more. Our raffle prize will see a lucky winner receive a dream island getaway to qualia resort, Hamilton Island,” David said.

“In addition to John, Chris, Benny and Trevor, there will be a number of rugby league legends in attendance to offer their support to the men, women and children of the rugby league community, we are exceptionally grateful they have offered their time for a great cause.

“Bringing a friend or colleague along to the Annual Lunch is a great way of introducing them to the Men of League Foundation and the work we carry out for the rugby league community.

“Tickets for the Annual Lunch are available for purchase via the Men of League Foundation website. We urge that if you are unable to attend the event but would like to pledge your support for the rugby league community, you can make a donation at www.menofleague.com/donate,” David concluded.
