Robert Benson

Men of League member Robert Benson has been suffering from Liver cirrhosis. Robert played lower grades for Newtown Jets from Harold Matthews to Jersey Flegg; he also played all of his juniors in the South Sydney competition.
Men of League donated $500 food/fuel voucher to Robert. A thank you letter was sent in by his wife, Jo Anne Benson, –

“I would just like to thank the Men of League Foundation for the Gift Card that was sent out to my Husband Robert and I .We were able to fill our cupboards with groceries which have lasted us for quite a few weeks. Robert has lost just over 40kils since his operation back in April, as his body retains fluid he has to go to hospital and has a drain done every few weeks…We are hoping to meet the liver transplant team at Royal Prince Alfred hospital early next year. We have been very lucky that Robert has been under the Metabolic Clinic at Camden hospital and we are very grateful to the Drs and staff there as if it wasn’t for their work ,dedication and encouragement I would hate to think what path we would be on now.

Robert still has a fair way to go, we were lucky to be sent to Concord Hospital as he underwent gastric sleeve operation and thanks to the operation has made a difference to our lives. The government is wanting to cut the funds to the metabolic Clinic but this Clinic has and is helping so many people…The Camden clinic staff are doing such a great job and I would hope that they can still carry on their work and help others as they are helping us. To the Men of League Foundation keep up the good work and thank you once again.”
