Recent OAM recipients to join Men of League Foundation at Sports Persons Lunch

The Men of League Foundation’s Northern Sydney Committee invites all members of the rugby league community to join them for their Sports Persons Lunch on Friday 7 September at the Collaroy Beach Services Club.

Joining the Foundation for the event will be recent OAM recipients and rugby league greats Noel Kelly and Max Krilich, as well as current Fox League commentator and former Penrith Panthers halfback Greg Alexander. John Gibbs, former Manly Warringah Sea Eagle and Alexander’s old co-host on radio program Sports Today, will take care of formalities as MC.

All funds raised from the Sports Person Lunch will go towards supporting those within the rugby league community that have fallen on hard times.

Men of League Foundation New South Wales State Manager Bruce Walker says that the Northern Sydney committee’s event will be a fantastic afternoon for a very worthwhile cause.

“The Sports Persons Lunch is a great opportunity for members and friends of the Men of League Foundation to enjoy a wonderful afternoon in the company of others from our tight-knit rugby league fanmily,” Walker said.

“Both Noel Kelly and Max Krilich received deserved recognition for their incredible contributions to rugby league this year when they were each awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia. They were both outstanding players in their day and represented Australia on 38 occasions combined,” Bruce said.

“It will also be fantastic for guests to hear two very respected rugby league pundits such as Greg Alexander and John Gibbs offer their insights on a number of various topics on the day.

“We recently celebrated reaching half a million dollars spent on our wellbeing program in 2018 and would love to continue that momentum. The funds raised from the Sports Persons Lunch will go a long way to assisting the men, women and children within the rugby league community that are in need of assistance,” Bruce concluded.
