Central Coast Committee members, Don Parish, Les Pearce and Dennis Tomsett visited Phil Gormley at his home in Bias Retirement Village in Bateau Bay following his discharge from Gosford Private Hospital. Phil was admitted to hospital due to problems associated with a previous operation.
Phil was in good spirits and shared some experiences of his rugby league career. For most of his rugby league career he played hooker. In the 1970’s he played grade for St. George, Port Kembla, Newtown and Ingham in Queensland.
During his time in Sydney and South Coast he was coached by Jack Gibson and Ian Walsh. When he played for Brothers in Ingham he represented Queensland Country and Queensland State. He also played and coached on the Coast for Toukley and Wyong.
Don presented Phil with a Men of League Foundation polo shirt and cap and wished him well with his future operation and recovery.
Phil appreciated the gift and expressed his sincere appreciation for the visit by the Foundation.
