Our visit to Trevor Heiler

Welfare Officers Warren Thompson, Ken Vessey and Alan Webb visited Trevor Heiler at Westmead Private Hospital on Monday 20th June, 2016.

Trevor has previously had surgery at Royal Prince Alfred hospital, Camperdown in February this year to remove a Melanoma on his right leg. Unfortunately it had spread and he was admitted to Westmead Private Hospital for further surgery this time to his brain. Trevor suffered a relapse after this surgery and his recovery has been slower than was hoped, however he has now turned the corner and is making steady progress.

Trevor is soon to be transferred to St.John’s Hospital at Auburn for rehabilitation.

Trevor played his junior football with Alexandria Rovers in the South Sydney Competition. In 1958 and 1959 he was a member of the South Sydney Presidents Cup teams. He was graded with Souths in 1961- playing six 1st grade, 11 reserve grade and four third grade games. He was South Sydney #500 1st grade player. Trevor then played for Kingsford in the 2nd Division Competition.

At the time of our visit his room was full of visitors and it was good to hear the banter which took place and had Trevor smiling. He is fortunate to have the support of his wife Pat, (50  years of marriage) and his family.

Trevor was presented with a Men of League polo shirt and cap, and a South Sydney Rabbitohs Cap. He thanked us for taking the time to visit him.
