Old Tiger still burning bright

Bruce Koth has been a member of the Balmain Rugby League Club since 1963 and up to a couple of years ago never missed a game.

Over the last 50 years Bruce has assembled a first-class collection of Balmain Tigers collector items, including NSW State of Origin jumpers signed by all Tigers representatives, jumpers of every Tigers premiership-winning teams, painting of the club's legends, bound collections of past years rugby league programmes, a "Tigers" jackpot poker machine and past famous players’ jumpers.

It is a remarkable collection of which Bruce is extremely proud, which unfortunately Bruce is now forced to put up for sale to any interested buyers.

Sadly over the last 13 years as a result of extended sickness and tough business conditions during the global financial crisis, Bruce and Anne have been doing it a bit tough and through some mutual friends the situation was raised with the Northern Sydney welfare team, with a visit by Welfare Officers Norm Pounder and Ken Vessey.

Bruce and Anne were delighted with the visit and while assuring us that they were not in need of immediate assistance, were keen to stay in touch and reconnect with the game through Men of League. Bruce’s biggest challenge at the moment is deciding what to do with his memorabilia collection.

Bruce was presented with a Men of League Polo Shirt and cap; they thanked us for our visit/concerns for them and the gifts; they wished the Men of League every success for the future and are to become Men of League Members immediately.
