Men of League Foundation Reaches Quarter of a Million Milestone

The Men of League Foundation has celebrated surpassing $250,000 of funding distributed to members of the rugby league community in 2018.

The Men of League Foundation cares for the men, women and children of the rugby league family, providing financial and emotional assistance to those in need. In 2018, Men of League grants have supported wellbeing recipients by covering costs associated with medical expenses, modified equipment, car conversions and utility bills. Wellbeing recipients are facing a range of tough circumstances including those living in hardship often with disabilities or suffering from illness or injury. Men of League grants provide significant relief to families involved at all levels of rugby league.

Men of League Foundation Illawarra Committee and members, along with the Albion Park Oak Flats Rugby League Club met at Croom Regional Sporting Complex to celebrate this significant milestone and pay tribute to the 28,000 members who have enrolled with the Foundation since inception and make this level of support possible. The crowd was also lucky enough to meet with new Men of League Foundation CEO Stephen Lowndes.

National Membership and Fundraising Manager Vanessa Bolzan, paid tribute to those who have renewed their Men of League Foundation Memberships in 2018.

“I would like to say thank you to all of our members for their continued support. Our strong membership base has placed us in the best possible position to improve the lives of those within the rugby league community. The distribution of $250,000 worth of funding is a fantastic achievement of which our members should be extremely proud.” she said.

The Foundation is aware that there are more rugby league individuals and families in need of assistance as the Foundation works towards the next target of $500,000.
