Melbourne Storm players visit Mone and Lungi in hospital

The Men of League Foundation recently helped organise a couple of hospitals visits from Melbourne Storm players.

Welfare Officer Andrew Blowers took players Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Vincent Leuluai, Justin Olam & Tui Kamikamica to visit Solomone.

The players spoke of how Mone could not wipe the smile off his face. They also mentioned that as soon as they walked into his room, Mone’s mum broke down in tears and repeatedly thanked the players for making the effort to visit.

They spent over an hour by his bedside, laughing and joking with Mone and his Mum.

At the same time, players Young Tonumaipea, Felise Kaufusi, Shem Tatupu, Charlie Galo, Brandon Smith & Sale Finau visited Lungi Taimani.

One of the first things Lungi said when the players arrived was that he was just blessed to be lying in his hospital bed alive.

Lungi explained to the players that he still has at least 14 weeks in hospital before he can even begin to bare weight on his legs and the boys were overwhelmed by Lungi’s determination to play in the Sunraysia Rugby League Grand Final in the coming weeks should his team the Robinvale Storm make it past their knock out final.

For the players, the most poignant moment was when Lungi spoke about losing Pou, for some of the players this was particularly emotional as they had personal connections with Pou.

Both Mone & Lungi were presented with a gift bag containing a 2017 Storm Jersey signed by the entire playing squad, a Storm scarf, hat and training shirt.

The players were grateful that they were given the opportunity to visit Mone & Lungi and both young men left our boys feeling very humbled.
