Kenty’s Man of the Moment – Corey Norman – Eels

Corey Norman – Parramatta Eels

After beginning the season in red hot form, Corey Norman got cut down by injury and, since returning from injury, has failed to reach the heights of earlier this season.

Still, Norman’s name keeps coming up as an Origin contender now that Johnathan Thurston is a confirmed omission from the Game III decider in a little over a fortnight.

The Eels play Canterbury on Thursday and Norman will be looking to have the kind of impact that keeps him fresh in Queensland coach Kevin Walters’ mind when he sits down Monday to pick his Queensland team.

Norman is considered by many to be the best suited replacement for the Maroons but faces strong opposition from a white-hot Daly Cherry-Evans at Manly.

To take the spot Norman will have to take apart a Canterbury side struggling to compile enough points to genuinely trouble their opponents.

Not that that usually matters when these two teams face each other. Bitter rivals since the 1980s, when they shared four premierships apiece and were forced to share a home ground, form is generally thrown out the window when they line up against each other.

Norman is shaping up as the catalyst for the Eels.
