Kenty’s Man of the Moment – Anthony Milford – Maroons

Anthony Milford – Maroons

Maroons coach Kevin Walters put it all to bed on Thursday when Johnathan Thurston ruled himself out of what would have been his 37th straight Origin game. He handed the five-eighth position to Anthony Milford.

Milford was a surprise and slightly controversial selection at five-eighth ahead of Thurston, many crediting it to mind games between the Maroons coach and Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.

But Walters always believed Milford would be his starter and now we get to see why. Once the wonderkid of the NRL, Milford makes his debut in an under strength Queensland outfit where they will need every ounce of his considerable talent to beat the Blues.

He has the game to slip easily alongside Maroons halfback Cooper Cronk and the talent to be a major distraction for the NSW defence.
