Having a chat with rural rugby league stalwart, Wayne Couley

Our North West Committee’s Narrabri Sub Committee paid a visit to Wayne Couley to check in, have a chat and prevent social isolation.

Wayne, aged 70, began his Junior Rugby League career with Coonamble and Baradine in the Group 14 division.

Wayne then moved to Camden to begin a career with the police force. Whilst in Camden, Wayne played for “The Oaks” Camden Rugby League Football Club in the Group 6 Division. Wayne is now a Life Member of Country Rugby League for the Group 6 Division.

Wayne then moved to Narrabri with the police force and began playing first grade with Narrabri Rugby League Club from around 1977-1978. Wayne then returned to Camden to continue with his career in the police force.

Since retirement, Wayne has now moved to The Whiddon Group Wee Waa to be closer to his family members. He is enjoying the time he is spending with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
