The Men of League Foundation’s Tweed District Committee is hosting their annual Sportsmen’s Lunch next month – and what better way to celebrate than with local rugby league heroes!
Gold Coast Titans Chief Owner Darryl Kelly, Executive Chairman Dennis Watt, Football Manager Anthony Laffranchi and Coach Garth Brennan as well as some of the Titans players are expected to draw a big crowd to the event, which has consistently grown since its inception. This year’s Sportsmen’s Lunch will be held at Seagulls Club Tweed Heads West on Friday 15 February.
The Titans executives and players will discuss their goals and aspirations for the 2019 season following a disappointing campaign that saw them finish 14th in 2018. National Rugby League journalist Neil Cadigan will host proceedings throughout the event as MC.
Men of League Foundation New South Wales State Manager Bruce Walker praised the Tweed District Committee for their relationship with the local NRL club, treating members and the local community to first hand insights from key decision makers and players.
“The annual Sportsmen’s Lunch is a great event on the Tweed District Committee’s social calendar. Having numerous representatives of the Gold Coast Titans attend the event is a clear endorsement of the committee’s efforts,” Bruce said.
There will also be raffles, as well as an auction for rare, sought-after sporting memorabilia. Tickets are $100 per person and includes a two-course meal and three-hour drinks package.
All proceeds go to the Men of League Foundation’s mission of providing assistance to the men, women and children within the game’s community who are in need of support.
“For any Gold Coast Titans fan, you can’t go past this opportunity to meet the core group of people involved in the club.
“Events like this are the lifeblood of our work. We distributed a record $1 million last year to wellbeing recipients around the nation and we are aiming to provide even more in 2019,” Bruce concluded.
