Men of League Foundation Celebrates $100K Milestone

The Men of League Foundation has celebrated surpassing $100,000 of funding distributed to members of the rugby league community between January and April of 2018.

In 2018, Men of League Foundation grants have supported wellbeing recipients by covering costs associated with medical expenses, modified equipment, car conversions and utility bills. Wellbeing recipients are facing a range of tough circumstances including those living in hardship often with disabilities or suffering from illness or injury. Foundation grants provide significant relief to families involved at all levels of rugby league.

Former players Warren Thompson, Mario Fenech and Dene Halatau gathered at Rugby League Central with newly appointed National Wellbeing Manager Jessica Macartney, to celebrate this significant milestone and pay tribute to the 500 plus Men of League Foundation volunteers across Australia. Jessica acknowledged the tireless work of the volunteer committees, in particular the wellbeing officers who visit recipients and their families in homes, aged care facilities and hospitals throughout the country.

“The contribution of our volunteers to the Men of League Foundation is unbelievable, each volunteer has a desire to give back to their community and today we say thank you to each and every one of them for helping us to achieve this important milestone,” she said.

The Foundation is aware that there are more rugby league individuals and families in need of assistance as they work towards their next target of $200,000.
