Former Newcastle rugby league player gets a visit

Wellbeing Officers of our Newcastle Hunter Committee, Vince Murphy, Garry Drummond and David Tyrell recently visited John Lawrence.

John was pleased to see the guys who spent some time with him re-visiting “those old times”.

John played senior football with Waratah Mayfield RLFC in the late 1970s later with South Newcastle RLFC in the early 1980s. He was a more than handy halfback in his day however has had some serious health problems over the last 12 months. He has had one leg amputated. Unfortunately, he has developed an infection in his other foot and ankle which may require further surgery.

John has a long way to go in his recovery and our Newcastle Hunter Committee will keep in touch with John as he travels his path of recover and rehab.
