Chook’s old team comes to visit

Players from the 1970 West Newcastle team who won the Grand Final game against Maitland came down by train from Newcastle to see John “Chook” Raper recently.

Chook was their captain coach and Denis Rowston, Wayne Hore, Tag Spruce, Graeme Morrissey, Peter Howlett, Brian Carlin, Tony Brown, Bob Adamson all shared great stories of times when they played together.

It’s important that we never forget about our mates and continue to make an effort to stay in touch. It meant the world to Chook to catch up with his old teammates and really lifted his spirits.
