Chelsea Old Boy recognised for contribution

On Thursday, 31 October, Sydney Metro Men of League Welfare Officers Warren Thompson and Alan Webb, along with Ken Vessey and Col Downing visited former Chelsea United (Souths Juniors) official Bill Harkins at Sir Joseph Banks Nursing Home, Edgehill Avenue Botany.

Bill was heavily involved with the old Chelsea United football club as an official for many years, acting as a father figure for many of the young boys who played with this club.

Unfortunately recent health problems have necessitated Bill being admitted to the nursing home for care.

Bill was presented with a plaque on behalf of the Chelsea Old Mates in recognition of his wonderful contribution to the Chelsea United Rugby League Club over many years.

He was also given a Men of League cap and polo shirt.

Bill expressed his gratitude to the work done by Men of League Foundation.
