Chris Macnellie, who is living with severe tinnitus, welcomed a visit from our Gold Coast Committee members Greg Sylvester, Graeme Farrar, Greg Rousell along with Foundation member Malcolm Frame, who was visiting from Sydney.
Tinnitus is a condition in which the patient is conscious of a constant ringing, buzzing or tinkling in the ears which has no external source.
Chris had a distinguished rugby league career as a hooker, playing first-grade for the Surfers Paradise Pirates. In the 1984 and 1985 seasons, he played for Brisbane Brothers whose coach was Tommy Raudonikis.
In 1986, he played for the Ipswich Jets, a team also coached by Raudonikis which included Allan Langer and the Walters brothers.
He also played for Beaudesert, captained/coached Stanthorpe, and then Tenterfield in Group 19. Chris finished his career back on the Gold Coast playing for the Southport Tigers.
Chris was grateful for the visit from our volunteers and we wish him all the best for the future.
