Assisting Cronulla Sharks life member, John

Recently, the Men of League Foundation were able to provide assistance to Sutherland Loftus United JRLFC stalwart, John Adamson.

John has been involved with the Pirates since the mid 1960’s and has held posts as both president and committeeman, however he currently operates as vice-president, manager of the under 13 team and ground announcer at the club. John was a player in his youth and competed for 14 seasons before retiring in 1978.

Following his retirement, John commenced a successful coaching career that included four premierships in the 1980s, as well as having the pleasure of coaching a young Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, New South Wales and Australian Kangaroos great, Steve Rogers.

His winning ways did not go unnoticed as he progressed further onto coaching the Sharks Harold Matthews Cup and Jersey Flegg sides, which saw him nominated as a life member of both the club and the Cronulla Sutherland Junior Rugby League.

John has greatly reduced mobility due to severe arthritis in his knees, an issue which has greatly impacted on his wellbeing and quality of life.

The Foundation were able to assist him through the purchase of a mobility scooter which will help with his day to day activities and allow him to continue his involvement in rugby league.
