2009: Jillaroos Victory

Kiwi Ferns were the dominant force in women’s rugby league for a decade. This dominance saw them win the Women’s Rugby League World Cup in 2000, 2005 and 2008. The global supremacy was sensationally snapped by the Australian Women’s Rugby League team with a 18-16 win to the Jillaroos in Auckland. The Jillaroos team included 10 debutants and saw five-eighth Kylie Hilder named player of the match after her first time in a Jillaroos jersey. The shock 2009 victory to the Jillaroos was the beginning of great things which would see them go onto defeat the Kiwi Ferns in the 2013 Women’s Rugby League World Cup.
