The Men of League Foundation’s Fraser Coast Committee will be joined by a host of Aussie sporting greats including racing driver Mark Winterbottom and past and present rugby league players Michael Crocker, David Shillington and Chelsea Baker at their Sports Dinner on Saturday 17 February at The Beach House Hotel, Hervey Bay.
Between them, this stellar line-up of special guests boasts an incredible breadth of sporting achievements. Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom won the 2015 International V8 Supercars Championship; Chelsea Baker, an Australian Jillaroo, represented Australia in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup; Michael Crocker played over 200 games in his NRL career and David Shillington has represented both Australia and Queensland in addition to his long career with the Canberra Raiders.
Attendees can look forward to meeting these Australian sporting heroes and hearing thrilling tales of their careers and the dedication required to become an elite sportsperson.
The evening is a chance for sporting fans of all ages to join in to help raise funds for the Men of League Foundation to ensure they can continue their essential work in caring for the men, women and children of the rugby league community.
Men of League Foundation’s Fraser Coast Committee President, Kev Embrey, says that following the success of the Committee’s inaugural Sports Dinner last year, he is keen to see members of the local rugby league community come along, meet the special guests and join in the fun once again.
“After last year’s event, I received a lot of enquires about when the next one would be and people were talking about it for days after. It was wonderful to see Fraser Coast locals get together to show their support for the rugby league community,” said Kev.
Kev, who was named the Foundation’s 2017 Queensland Volunteer of the Year, leads an active committee of hardworking and supportive members who all pull together to ensure the rugby league community know there is help available for those who need it most.
“We’re hoping to double the number of attendees at this year’s event. All proceeds from the dinner will help the Men of League Foundation to continue to provide wellbeing support to the rugby league community,” Kev concluded.
Members of the Fraser Coast community are invited to attend the Sports Dinner to celebrate Australian sport and raise funds for the Men of League Foundation. If you can’t make it to The Beach House Hotel on Saturday 17 February, you can make a donation to the Foundation at www.menofleague.com or sign up as a member from February 2018.
