2011: Lockyer’s Final Origin
2011 saw the curtains close on one of the greatest rugby league careers of all time. Darren Lockyer’s career is littered with accolades and highlights, but the Maroon’s 2011 Origin series victory helped cement him as an origin great. With Lockyer as the captain, the 2011 series saw the Maroon’s secure their sixth straight Origin series victory (on their way to a record eight in a row) and saw Lockyer set a new record for Origin games played at 36. Lockyer’s presence and impact on the Origin stage was legendary and will be Queensland folklore for years to come.
