2007: Gold Coast Titans return

With a catchment from south of Brisbane to Northern New South Wales, the Gold Coast was always regarded a huge rugby league nursery desperate for development. After the decline of the Gold Coast-Tweed Giants/Seagulls/Chargers and nearly a decade out of elite level rugby league the nursery had been neglected. It took busy lobbying to help secure the promise of a new $100 million stadium at Robina, and Gold Coast rugby league was reborn in the Titans. They kicked off the season in front of 42,000 fans against the St George Illawarra Dragons and would go on to record the second-highest average attendance of all NRL clubs in their maiden season.
